The Best Styles: Mannington has won many awards for styling and performance. The elegant look that is created allows you to have the look you want the worry. These floors feel softer than tile and have a much warmer feel underfoot. They are easier maintain and feature a grout free, problem free installation.

The award winning wood designs allow you to have the natural look of wood without having to resurface the floor in the future. This floor is also ideal if you have pets, because they have about 5 times more scratch resistance than hardwood floors.

Is Laminate better than Wood?

Wood floors and Laminate floors have their place in the home. What is best for you, may not be for someone else. So when you ask someone a question like this you will get a large range of answers. The real question should be which floor is best suited for my home?

Laminate floors are not designed to replace hardwood floors, but to give you a different option. When it comes to the look of hardwood, you can not match it 100%, it is close, I like to say it looks about 99% like wood once down, but you may notice that the look is slightly different. The higher the quality of the laminate the more realistic the looks can be. When you purchase a lower-end laminate you will notice a few things that cause an issue. One thing that stands out after it is installed is the number of patterns produced in a box. If you buy a cheaper laminate floor they normally have 1 to 3 patterns per box and that means that you can see a repeat of the same design over and over again. That doesn't look real. But with a high-end laminate floor they may have as high as 5-14 patterns per box and they may even shift the pattern so that it doesn't land in the same spot each time. They also can have a texture that creates more realism.

The stain, dent and scratch resistance of laminate out performs wood without a doubt. However, the floor can not be resurfaced in the future. So you should figure that most high-end laminate floors will need to be replaced within 25-30 years, whereas wood floors can be refinished and last for 100's of years as long as it is maintained properly.

So which is best is determined by what your needs are more than the product itself. However, no matter the type of floor that you decide to install in your home get a quality product and then you will have less issues with your floor now and in the future.

Are Laminate Floors
Easy To Install?

Yes, It is a click together installation. Thus it is designed to be easy. However many clients use professional installation services to ensure a good installation.

To prepare for a flooring installation, any furniture or appliances will need to be removed from the area. Then, the current flooring and trim will be removed, along with any hardware that's present. This can go over the top of some flat level floors such as vinyl. However, In some cases, the subfloor may also require preparation, if it is damaged or uneven.  If your subfloor is concrete, it needs to be clean and dry to apply new laminate flooring. Any holes or cracks present need to be repaired, as well as any high spots or bumps. If your subfloor is linoleum or vinyl and in good condition, laminate can be applied on top of it. If the subfloor is worn, a coat of leveler may be necessary. If you’re installing the flooring yourself, be sure to seek installation instructions.

What Laminate Is Not?

Laminate Floors are not ceramic tile or wood floors but it is one of the best preforming products made today. Laminate flooring will out perform most standard vinyl based products, some wood floors and some mid range ceramic tile floors. The surface is scratch resistant but not scratch proof. The surface is water resistant. So that means if you have a spill front the top, such as a glass of water or ice cubes, you are ok, but if you have a flood or a consistent water issue, it may damage the floor. The water protection is only from spills from the top surface that is picked up in a reasonable period of time. Pet stain resistance does not mean that you do not have to clean it up quickly. Some animal accidents contain acids that can eat way at the water resistant sealer in the joints and bevels. Like many floors, we recommend that you do not use wheels on chairs and that you always use floor protector pads and appliance movers to prevent damage.
